THE TRAPEZE REIMAGINED
A NEW ANGLE ON AUDIO PERFECTION
In 1979 Ole Klifoth launched the Trapeze. In doing so, he created the blueprint for all Audiovector speakers to come – including the pioneering focus on linear dynamics and linear phase through a true 6 dB per octave crossover. Fast forward 45 years and the new Trapeze Reimagined is based on the same principles as the original heritage model. And brought up to date with the very best, most innovative technology available.
A homage to the company’s very first loudspeaker. The embodiment of our passion, innovation, and love of music. And quite simply, a thing of beauty. A 3-way floor standing design, the Trapeze Reimagined features a proprietary 12-inch high-power mid/bass driver. A 5-inch-high speed midrange. And the only AMT-tweeter on the market that stays true to the original design from audio genius Dr. Oscar Heil.
The three drivers combine to achieve an even power, flat frequency response to match the famous Brûel & Kjaer ideal room response. A diffraction absorbing felt area around the treble and midrange drivers helps to create a rare and natural soundstage: prepare to be transported to the atmospheric heart of a live event. The low frequency tuning adds weight and drama to any music.
The extremely low distortion of the bass driver allows unusually natural and dynamic vocals as well as a beautifully rich sound without boom or bloom that just sounds so right. No problems with bass, midrange, or treble. Just an open, rich, musical, and rhythmic reproduction of all kinds of music in all kinds of settings.
Diffraction Absorption Control
A thick layer of natural felt around the midrange and treble drivers absorbs reflected energy. This enables the drivers to function as point sources, resulting in a holographic 3-dimensional soundstage.
No Standing Waves
Standing waves distort sound and cause energy loss. The original Trapeze pioneered the "No Standing Waves" principle with its unique lopsided cabinet, creating optimal conditions for the drivers to perform without interference.
Double Mechanical Decoupling
The Trapeze Reimagined incorporates a two-layer aluminum plinth with built-in decoupling via carbon steel ball bearings and precision-engineered Audiovector spikes. This combination reduces distortion, enhances the speaker/floor interaction, and delivers a clean, precise sound.
Damping Factor Adjustment
All amplifiers differ in damping factor, which can influence sound. The unique Damping Factor Adjustment (DFA) feature allows the speaker to be tailored to the damping factor of different amplifiers, providing the Trapeze Reimagined with unmatched flexibility.
Proprietary Bass Driver
Our in-house bass driver is custom-made to exact specifications. Featuring a 12” membrane and 4” voice coil, it delivers low distortion and clean bass. The special hysteresis-free ‘concertina’ corrugated surround enhances midrange performance while maintaining long-throw capability, eliminating the trade-off between range and speed. This bass driver, utilizing a rubber ‘concertina’ surround rather than a conventional roll surround, integrates seamlessly with the superfast midrange driver, achieving an extremely low-distortion, natural sound with dynamic vocals and rich bass without unwanted resonance.
High-Performance 5” Midrange Driver
The Audiovector midrange driver employs a powerful Neodymium magnet for optimal control and minimal distortion. A patented distortion-shorting cap further reduces distortion, while the light membrane with a ‘concertina’ surround provides the speed needed to blend seamlessly with the AMT treble driver.
Proprietary Linear Phase Crossover
The crossover network, the heart of any high-quality speaker, is custom-designed in-house. Utilizing a 6 dB per octave linear phase crossover topology, as with the original Trapeze, it achieves a perfect step response and clear, natural sound. The Trapeze Reimagined crossover features:
- Cryogenically treated tin flash/copper capacitors
- Air-cooled, metal-housed resistors for bass and midrange
- Film resistors in the treble to prevent induction distortion
- Precision-wound coils with tolerances within +/- 1%
