1. Is HYPSOS Compatible with My Device?
HYPSOS can power devices that require direct current (DC) within the following specifications:

• Supply Voltage: 5-30V
• Maximum Power Consumption: 80W
• DC Power Socket Compatibility: Must be compatible with available cables in our offer

2. How Much Will HYPSOS Improve My System’s Sound Quality?

3. Can I Order a Custom DC Power Cable with a Non-Standard Plug?
Yes, custom DC power cables can be ordered if we can source a high-quality plug that meets your specifications. Ferrum prioritizes offering only the highest quality products, so they will not manufacture cables with inferior plugs.


4. Should I Use Standby Mode or the Main Switch for HYPSOS?
For daily use, you can leave HYPSOS in standby mode. However, if you’re not using it for an extended period, such as during a vacation, we recommend switching off HYPSOS using the main switch.


5. Can I Replace the Standard Fuse in HYPSOS with an Upgrade?
Yes, you can replace the fuse with a higher-quality one, given it has the same parameters as the original fuse.


6. Why Doesn’t the HYPSOS Display Show the Power Drawn?
Some devices draw very little current, which may be too small for HYPSOS’s measurement system to detect. This doesn’t affect the performance or operation of HYPSOS.


7. Can HYPSOS Power More Than One Device?
Yes, HYPSOS can power multiple devices as long as they operate at the same voltage level and their combined power consumption does not exceed 80W. We recommend using a Ferrum Power Splitter for convenient connection of two devices to HYPSOS.

Ferrum OOR Headphone Amplifier FAQ

1. Is the OOR a Suitable Amplifier for My Headphones?
The OOR amplifier is designed to drive nearly all dynamic and planar headphones on the market, including high-end models like the Abyss 1266 Phi TC and Hifiman Susvara. However, please note that OOR is not compatible with electrostatic headphones.

 

2. Which Headphone Input/Output is Better: Balanced or Single-Ended?
In general, the balanced output on OOR provides a higher signal amplitude (+6dB) and better noise immunity. However, the single-ended connection is still a reliable option, and its performance should not be underestimated.

 

3. Can I Use the OOR as a Speaker Amplifier?
The OOR is primarily designed as a headphone amplifier, but it can also be used to drive speakers at low volume levels. Keep in mind that speakers generally require more power than headphones, so the performance may be limited.

 

4. My OOR Amplifier is Heating Up. Is This Normal?
Yes, it is normal for the OOR to generate heat during operation, especially at the bottom where the internal heat sink is located. This is expected behavior and does not indicate a problem.

 

5. Why is There No Sound in My Headphones When Connected to the OOR?
If you’re experiencing silence, ensure that the headphone cable is securely plugged into the headphone jack. Also, check that the correct input is selected using the input selector knob on the far left of the device.

Ferrum ERCO DAC/Amp FAQs

1. Do I Need to Install a Driver for ERCO to Work with My Computer?
If you are using macOS or Linux, no driver installation is required for ERCO. On Windows, while ERCO can function without a driver, we highly recommend installing our proprietary driver for the best performance. You can download it from Ferrum's support page at ferrum.audio/support.

 

2. Why Did Ferrum Use USB-C in the ERCO?
We chose USB-C for the ERCO because it is rapidly becoming the standard connector across devices. We believe USB-C is the most forward-looking and versatile solution for modern audio equipment.

 

3. Can the ERCO Be Controlled with a Remote Control?
The ERCO is designed as a desktop DAC, primarily for headphone use. Since it's intended to be within reach, we did not include remote control functionality.

 

4. What Chip Does ERCO Use for Digital-to-Analog Conversion?
The ERCO is equipped with the renowned ESS SABRE ES9028PRO chip, known for its high-performance digital-to-analog conversion capabilities.
