“Canarino Bridge DUB” is the first “pure Diretta Bridge appliance” in Orio spec.

1. Sound tuning with attached insulator
Canarino Bridge DUB comes with three types of insulators.

It must have a “modern” low power consumption specification that can operate at 5V/2A. This means that you can freely choose from a wide variety of AC adapters available in the market. Therefore, it can be said to be a huge advantage. With power consumption specifications of this level, you should be able to freely customize your favorite power supply unit from products from various manufacturers, regardless of whether it is a switching power supply or a linear power supply.
By the way, the included power supply unit is a switching type GaN AC adapter, which is familiar from Oriospec, which has a reputation for high sound quality. As an example of an upgradeable linear power supply, we have confirmed operation with a Fidelix 5V linear power supply. [What is Diretta?]
Diretta is an entirely new protocol designed for high-end audio. Its philosophy is completely different from existing protocols. There are many factors that affect the sound quality of an audio player. Power supply noise emitted by digital blocks on the circuit greatly affects sound quality. To suppress this noise, capacitors and inductors are usually placed on the power supply. This creates a low-pass filter that reduces spike-like noise typical of digital. However, as you can see from the fact that it is a low-pass filter, low frequency fluctuations are passed through. This is not noise, so there is no need to remove it, and you cannot see it even if you observe it with voltage. However, when observing the current, it can be seen that there is noise that affects the audible band with a certain period. Admittedly, this is difficult to remove electrically. We thought that if we could suppress this noise, the sound quality could be greatly improved. However, it is very difficult and unrealistic to configure the CPU and other devices to have a constant current configuration like a class A amp. If we can solve this problem using a software approach, we can see a realistic implementation. One way to do this is to average out the processing and reduce fluctuations in power consumption. Diretta would like to propose an answer to this problem. The player with the analog part is the Target, and the server with the storage etc. is the Host. The Target and Host are designed using different concepts. Target simplifies processing so that processing is minimal and can be averaged. It is similar to hardware processing in FPGA and consists of simple processing. The Host operates in synchronization with the Target so that the processing of the Target can be averaged. Whenever possible, send packets at regular, short intervals to average out the processing. Predict and control the Target buffer. As a result, fluctuations in power consumption are averaged out as much as possible for the target player. It is similar to USB sync, but since the host side synchronizes, the target side does not change the speed. No buffer or flow control like USB ansync. Also, since it is Ethernet, it can use fully isolated connections and can also be used with fiber cables. It does not perform complex processing such as file range requests like UPnP. There is no complicated processing required to synchronize multiple devices such as AES67. Diretta will continue to prioritize sound quality, and strive to minimize the impact on analog blocks. This product is a dedicated Diretta Target machine based on the Diretta Piccolo module. Connect the USB DAC provided here and use it by connecting it to the host PC via network. You can connect to a hub under the same router that the host PC is connected to, or connect directly to the host PC via LAN. [Connection of each device]
Connect canarino Bridge DUB and USB DAC with a USB cable. Either USB port on canarino Bridge DUB is fine.
It is possible to connect two USB DACs at the same time. However, it can only be output to either one. (simultaneous output not possible)
Connect canarino Bridge DUB to your home network router (switching hub) or access point using a LAN cable. It is also possible to directly connect the host PC and canarino Bridge DUB with a LAN cable without connecting to a home network.
Power on the canarino Bridge DUB and USB DAC.
After canarino Bridge DUB starts up, the status LED on the bottom of the main unit lights up in red, and when the USB DAC recognizes it and is ready for playback, both red and green light up. (Specifications have been changed from shipments on February 24, 2023)
Since we will play using the Windows PC playback app you provided, you can either save the sound source on this PC or connect an external USB hard disk etc. to store the sound source.
If you have connected two USB DACs, open Diretta ASIO configre and select the output destination from Connect Target.
